Straw to Charcoal Carbonization Process

Continuous straw to charcoal refers to the process of crushing, drying, high-temperature carbonization, sulfur emission, smoke volatile, charcoal enrichment, cooling and the final step of making charcoal. The core of a straw to charcoal machine is its carbonization technology. Raw material sources for the production of charcoal from straw has been extended to biomass waste materials such as sawdust, straw and wood referred to as biomass charcoal or bio-carbon.

Straw to Charcoal Carbonization Process

A straw-to-charcoal plant processes straw into different types of charcoal. This type of charcoal maker project makes use of the heating source that is generated from raw materials to produce wood tar, charcoal, and wood vinegar.  All of these final products can be applied to all areas of life as valuable materials.

Straw Charcoal End-Product Usage

– Charcoal used in daily life as fuel for barbeques or in other areas of the home.

– In agriculture, it attaches to heavy metals to improve soil quality.

– Wood vinegar and tar’s resistance to high temperatures and water makes great materials for use in the shipbuilding and paint industry.

– Used as raw materials in medicine and chemicals.

– In agriculture wood vinegar and tar is used as plant nutrition and insecticides.

Raw materials used are straw, forestry waste, weeds, nuts fruit shells and other biomass waste like municipal waste and sewage sludge. There are two requirements for pre-treatment of raw materials:

– the water content has to be lower than 20% or it will need to be dried in a dryer;

– the size of the materials has to be less than 50m or it will need to be crushed in a crusher.

The straw carbonization equipment will include a carbonization host, a spray tower, a condenser system, a cooling system, and a discharging system.

The entire process consists of four major steps:

1. High-temperature pyrolysis;

2. Smoke discharge;

3. Sulfur emission;

4. Charcoal enrichment;

Heating Sources

Heating sources are generally coal, natural gas, or other fuel. After a 30-minute heating period, combustible gas will be generated from the raw materials which are then purified by a spray tower in order to supply a heating source for the furnace or the dryer. The whole charcoal production process is continuous which greatly improves working efficiency and output yield, saving costs. The charcoal yield will depend on external conditions and the type of raw materials used but is generally 3:1 or 4:1.

Straw To Charcoal Maker Plant

Over the years it has become apparent that the remaining straw crop waste has been too much and traditional accumulation and combustion methods were seriously damaging the environment. Today many countries have expressly banned the disposal of crop stalks by burning. The new method of transforming straw waste into useful resources by making use of a straw-to-charcoal machine has become ever more popular internationally and has gained government support in many countries.

As raw materials for making charcoal are cheap and richly available the profits to be made from turning straw into charcoal is obvious. Moreover, a straw-to-charcoal machine can be used for many other types of materials making it a multiple-use machine. As environmental projects are gaining popularity the future of charcoal making machines is becoming brighter.
